The Story Behind Android KitKat

The Story Behind Android KitKat
Unlikely, Google gave the name of the latest version of the Android operating system with a brand name chocolate. Then what is the origin of the outbreak of the idea to adopt the name KitKat ? Here is the story behind Android KitKat.

Such as the widely reported that Google will use the Key Lime Pie as a name for the new version of the Android operating system. This indication is getting stronger as Google likes to call the operating system by name and in alphabetical order dessert.

"We realize that very few people actually know what the taste of key lime pie" said John Lagerling, Director of Android Global Partnerships , as quoted by the BBC on Wednesday ( 04/09/2013 ).

Key Lie Pie name itself is already decided late last year as a continuation of the latest version of Android. Indecision becomes apparent after the popularity of key lime pie may not be as famous as the name of the other dessert.

Until one evening, some Google developers get unexpected inspiration. Chocolate from Nestle KitKat comes just in the minds of the developers of Google.

"One of the snacks that we keep in the kitchen to accompany moments of coding is KitKat  and someone said; 'Hey, why do not we call it for the next release KitKat'," he said again.

Once the name is approved, Google officials shortly to fly to Switzerland, where the base-centered company Nestle. The point is clear, to ask for authorization to use the name KitKat.

Welcome with open arms was immediately acquired by Google from Nestle. Because shortly from the meeting, they agreed to use any name for the latest Android KitKat.

"Frankly less than an hour until we say, 'Come on, let's do it'," says Patrice Bula, Head of Nestle Marketing.

Bula admitted there is a risk of this agreement, for example, if the new OS is proven to be vulnerable to malware that can cause damage to the KitKat brand itself.

"Maybe I'll get fired," he joked.

"When you try to lead a new way of communicating to introduce your brand profile always has a higher risk than doing something much more traditional. But hey, why do not we try it," said Bula.
